ABOUT ABOUT

Today’s teens face unique challenges in our rapidly-changing world.  In the age of instant access to information, and constant commentary from social media - teens are often exposed to situations and events before they have the tools and experience necessary to successfully navigate them.  And even though phones and electronic devices provide instant access to friends, many teens are feeling more lonely and isolated than ever before.

Parents often struggle to connect and communicate with their teen in this new cultural context.  It’s difficult for teens to accept that their parents have “been there” when times have changed so much.  Both sides feel frustrated - uncertain how to bridge the gap, and foster trust and understanding.

The Folsom Cordova School District and Lakeside Church are partnering together to host a community gathering to explore these unique teen challenges, and discuss ways to support teens as they maneuver through them.  The seminar, “Parenting Today’s Teens,” recognizes that the world is rapidly changing, and many families are struggling to fully understand how their teens are experiencing and navigating life. The October 29 regional event will help parents develop an authentic and effective parenting strategy for the teen years and beyond.

Speaker and author, Chap Clark, will lead the seminar - providing helpful tips and insight intended to foster hope, healing and better communication in parent/teen relationships.
